Abstract

Throughout the 20th century, Southeast Asia has led the world in terms of economic growth, outstripping the rates posted by several others developed and larger regions. The region has become the fastest growing economic region in the world and has contributed to the sharp rise in the share of trade.  In view of the rapid export-led growth of the economies in the region, it is not surprising to see that the facilities and capacities of Southeast Asian ports have been expanding at a similarly rate (copied from the paper).
