Apart from UNCLOS noble intent to provide the foundation for an effective maritime security regime, this study contends that it does not in whatsoever circumstances in solving problem related to the maritime problems face by countries but further complicates the issue. This study concludes that Indonesia handles issues in maritime border through case by case approach. This approach seems appropriate for Indonesia in order to man its national interest as well as its vast maritime border. For Malaysia, the ability and effectiveness of the Indonesian government to deal with the maritime security and other maritime related issue should be a major lesson for the government.
